Islamabad

Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan and it's the tenth largest city of the country. The population of Islamabad has now increased from 100,000 in 1951 to 1.21 million in 2009. Islamabad is famous because of its beauty, cleanliness and it also owned the good administration. Islamabad has the highest literacy rate in Pakistan and is home to the some of the top ranked universities in Pakistan, including Quaid-i-Azam University, Comsats institute of Information technology, Pakistan Institute of Engineering & Applied Sciences and the National University of Sciences and Technology.

 

In Islamabad currently many underground and overhead bridges are being built and expected to be completed soon. The places or beautiful spots for recreation in Islamabad are Daman-e-koh, pir sohawa, Margallah track, Fatimah Jinnah Park, Shakkar parrian and many other beautiful visiting places making Islamabad more beautiful and comfortable to stay in. The traffic of Islamabad is so organized if we compare it with other cities of Pakistan.

Islamabad is also well organized city which is divided into different sectors and zones. This city is also ranked as Gamma world city in 2008. In Islamabad Faisal Mosque is located which is the largest mosque in South Asia and sixth largest in the world. Islamabad city residential area is divided into sectors and each sector has a Markaz(center) which is meant for shopping. Jinnah Super, Super Market, Karachi Company, Ayub Market etc are in fact Markaz of different sectors of Islamabad.

The city is divided into eight basic zones Administrative, diplomatic enclave, residential areas, educational sectors, industrial sectors, and commercial areas, rural and green areas. Each sector has its own shopping area and public park. Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan, just North East of its twin city Rawalpindi, the former interim capital. Construction of Islamabad [city of Islam/Peace] as the capital, replacing Karachi, began in the 1960s.
